The name "Ishmael" (or a form of it, such as "Ishmaelites"), appears 47 times in the KJV, all in the Old Testament. About half of the references are to the son of Abraham and Hagar or to his descendants; the rest apply to several other men who bore the name.

Also mentioned are an Ishmael the son of Nethaniah (2 Kings 25:23), an Ishmael the son of Azel (1 Chronicles 9:44), an Ishmael the son of Jehohanan (2 Chron. 23:1), and an Ishmael the son of Pashur (Ezra 10:22). [Scripture references are examples, not necessarily "only mentions."]
