In general, for colleges that operate on a two regular semester academic year, the amount of credits needed to complete a Bachelors Degree can run anywhere from 124 to 128. The important issue here is that these credits must be applied to a specific program of study as prescribe by the institution. If the credits are not appropriately applied, it does not matter how many credits an individual accumulates, they still will not have a degree, but just an accumulation of credits. Viper1

This would be based on a college or university that operates on a regular two semester academic year which is the most common. For institutions that operate on a tri-semester or quarter-semester it would be quite different. That being said, the Bachelor's degree - in most cases - is designed as a four year program of study, provided the student is full-time and follows their chosen program of study as prescribed by the college or university, and also provided the individual does not require prerequisite or developmental coursework as a result of basic skills testing. The minimum credit load for a full-time student is no less than 12 credits per semester. However, to complete the degree within the four years, a credit load of approximately 15 to 18 credits is recommended. For individuals who work or who have other responsibilities that would prohibit them from attending full-time, completion of the degree may take twice as long. Still, some of this time can be cut down by attending summer sessions and/or interim sessions. In addition, the bachelors and associate degrees are referred to as undergraduate degrees while the masters and doctorate degrees referred to as graduate degrees.

∙ 15y agoThere is no such thing as a degree in pre-law. Some colleges and universities offer a curriculum guide to ensure students who wish to pursue a law degree take the required prerequisites, and indicate it as a pre-law program, but it is not a degree within itself. Students who are pursuing law school come from a variety of backgrounds. Some who wish to become corporate lawyers may take a business degree. Those who wish to become a criminal lawyer, may take a criminal justice degree. However - once again - students intending to go to law school can come from most any major program of study. Each student should make an appointment with a career counselor at the institution they are attending to discuss options.
