I live in the north east and Obstetricians who are employed by hospitals make in the neighborhood of $150K-$200K as a salary. They could possibly make more if they were self-employed, but the trade-off is that malpractice insurance is very expensive here (can be up to $50K and more a year) and if they are employed by a hospital, the hospital bears that cost. Out west, an OB could make up to $500K depending on where they may be practicing.
