$41 000 a year, but at any given moment in time, that will vary. Not to mention, 'where' you are located will also influence that value. To keep current and obtain a salary based on your location 'and' experience, you can go to Salary.com and provide a few details. This will give you a much better picture and provide you with some really nice options and alternatives to consider (in case you want to relocate). in 2007 the average salary was $40,330

There isn't any really accurate statistics for the massage profession because most massage therapists are self employed and own their own business. While it may be difficult to build a massage practice, it doesn't have to be that way. Massage Schools are creating the belief that it is difficult. It really has more to do with who you are and your commitment to being a success and doing what it takes to get what you want.

An "average salary" is statistically $29,999 a year!

Once you hit the $30,000 mark, you have to get your GST # and I believe you're in a higher tax bracket.

Think of it this way, if you are a RMT starting out in your first year, its hard to get a clientele since no one knows you exist in the field! I'm starting out in my second year. I know for sure I am WAY under the $30k only because I had to put my name out there. It's really hard for the first few years, but I'm hoping that it will pick up and I'll have a more steady income. You really have to like this profession because it can be tough on your body, so take care of yourself FIRST!!!!

First, there is a difference between a massuese and an RMT. A masseuse is not licensed and you will generally find them working "rub and tugs". They are NOT licensed for Massage Therapy. Having said that, the colleges that govern RMTs have set rates for different citys. For example, the CMTO (college of massage therapists of Ontario) has decided that 80$ an hour is good in Toronto, and that 65$ is the standard rate in Barrie.

Massage Therapist's salaries usually depend on where the work (spa, home office, health club, etc.), how many hours they work, what city/area of the country they live/work and in what types of massage they specialize

Generally, the more massage techniques you know, the more money you can make. However, the area that you live in (metropolitan and/or upper class), also makes a huge difference in your hourly wages.

Keep in mind too, that massage therapists are also given large tips or gratuity. This can range from $10- $20 dollars.

You can expect around $15 - $20 plus tips per hour when you are first starting out. Salaries tend to improve with each year of practice.
