There isn't any really accurate statistics for the massage profession because most massage therapists are self employed and own their own business. While it may be difficult to build a massage practice, it doesn't have to be that way. Massage Schools are creating the belief that it is difficult. First, there is a difference between a massuese and an RMT. A masseuse is not licensed and you will generally find them working "rub and tugs". They are NOT licensed for Massage Therapy. Having said that, the colleges that govern RMTs have set rates for different citys. For example, the CMTO (college of massage therapists of Ontario) has decided that 80$ an hour is good in Toronto, and that 65$ is the standard rate in Barrie.
