Throughout World War 1 all news on the war reaching the German public in the media was strictly censored (and often manipulated) by the military. The German people were told that they were winning, despite the fact that there were severe food shortages, military defeats and so on. Nothing was done to prepare people for the defeat. This, together with the fact that Germany actually succeeded in defeating Russia, provided the breeding ground for the 'stab-in-the-back' theory - that is, the conspiracy theory that claimed that Germany had been stabbed in the back by subsersives on the home front and not really defeated. To those with a grasp of the realities, the amazing thing about WW1 was that Germany managed to hold out for so long against an alliance with far greater resources. Joncey

The division of Germany was part of a much wider division of Europe and the world into blocs. I really don't think much is gained by playing the 'blame game'.
Germany was very much an autocracy during World War 2.
Germany Germany.
Germany went into debt after losing WWI, which caused much resentment with the German people. So, out of utter hopelessness, German citizens elected Hitler as chancellor hoping that he'd restore the economy. Unfortunately, he had other plans for Germany and declared war on basically every European country.

During the beginning of the war the death rates were huge. Germany's usage of gas increased the number of deaths in the country. Along with Germans other citizens were affected, the most affected was Russia. even though Germany had high death rates the country faced about 300,000 to 900,000 not much compared to Russia. But, this was not the only problem with the usage of the gas. After the war Germany was linked responsible for the damages on the other countries and faced economic problems. at the end of the war Germany had to compensate those countries that faced damages. Germany was responsible for the damages of citizens such as mental illnes or psychological problems. In addition to that Germany lost some land to foreign countries
