You should do some cleaning in your house and try to empty as much space as possible. If you still need more storage, you can buy plastic containers and store them in extra spaces like under the bed, etc.
Well what I use is a trusty tape measurer! Before you measure the bed though, you should know how much space you have. It would be horrible to get the wrong size bed!
