hi there, can anyone help me and my feinds in this debate. i was explaining to my freinds that if an astronaut went to space for say 2yrs, more time would have passed on earth. if this is true , can anyone give us a reasonable example . mentioning the speed of the craft and the time difference .
astronauts lose bone muscle because they are not used to the gravity conditions in space. They will also lose muscle and need to excersing while in space and also before leaving Earth.
The body is wonderfully good at adapting to what it needs at the moment, and as you don't need much strength in weightlessness, you loselose strength from your muscles and your bones quite fast. Then when you get back to Earth you're weak as a kitten and everything becomes real difficult. By exercising in space you can trick the body not to lose that much strength, which helps you when you get back to Earth.
Apollo 13 did make it back to planet Earth, although it had to maneuver around the moon it still made it back to Earth.
Space probes can travel out to a far away body, such as a planet or distant moon, and take measurements and images there, much closer compared with earth based observations. The images and other data is then transmitted back to earth. The probe itself just needs power to run, you don't have to provide food and life support system as you do with human space travel. Also, if something goes wrong, you wont lose any lives. The probe does not have to be designed to come back to earth either.

They need to do alot of muscle workouts because they lose so much weight during space they could come back to earth and not be able to stand up because of the gravity
