I have a 2004 v8 Silverado 1500 LS , with 5.3 ltr engine, the gvw is about 13000lbs, and truck weighs just under 5000lbs, so with that being said you should be able to tow about 8000lbs max. I usually tow a 25 foot boat which weighs about 7600lbs with trailer, fuel and equip. The truck pulls it without difficulty, but you can feel the pull going uphill.
i dont know havent got to that yet at school
stock hitch is rated for 500 tongue and 9000 pull
If the truck has 6 lug wheels and the GVWR is 7200. the towing capacity is 6000 lbs.
