1882 is not a rare date for $5 gold pieces.
"Mint Condition" comes in several different degrees -- from an uncirculated coin that has multiple noticable contact marks (MS-60), to an absolutely perfect coin (MS-70), and everything in-between.
While a noticably marked coin will have a value of about $150, a coin with just a few small marks will be worth about $600, an almost mark-free and well-struck coin will be worth about $5,000, and a perfect coin can be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
You can see that you need to have your coin professionally graded to be able to determine an exact grade. I suggest you check out the ANACS website, where you can see if they will be attending a coin show in your area, so you can take your coin to the show and get a free professional appraisal. There was no US silver dollar minted in 1950. If you mean a half dollar, it would be worth at least its value in silver which as of writing is about $7.70 but it would be worth more in better condition. As with all old coins, cleaning harms the value.
