Recommended oil change interval for all vehicles is every 3,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first. This is assuming you use conventional oil, however. If you use a synthetic oil, the interval is a lot longer, as many as 10,000 miles. (but its a lot more expensive) If you drive mostly highway (60% or more of the miles) you'll be just fine stretching it to 4000 miles, but you dont want to go more than 4500 ever. With an '06 car, keeping fresh oil in it will ensure a long life with few problems if you're faithful about it. Also make sure you change the oil filter every time you change the oil as well. Owners Manual recommends every 5000 miles.
They will probably be driven on.
