Plastic particles from the breakdown of bags and containers become a small as sand in the sea and are known as 'mermaids tears'. They get into the gut of filter feeders and the chemicals within the plastic migrate into their bodies affecting their ability to reproduce.

Firstly, it produces harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, sulfurdioxide, nitrogen oxide. These gases cause acid raid which makes lakes acidic and causes fishes to die. these gases also contribute to global warming. A lot of land is cleared away to make these factories. The waste is thrown into rivers and seas which pollutes them. Working in a plastic gfactory is harmful as you can get cancer, or other diseases like Asthma.

Its harmful to the eco system because its not biodegradabl (sorry about spelling errors) and by not being biodegradabl it sits there never decomposing, and if it some how gets into an animals body (like a bird) its body is not strough enof to digest it.

Plastic (particularly packaging) is generally not recyclable or biodegradeable. This means that when you have used it you have no choice but to throw it away. If you use glass packaging for example the glass can be cleaned and reused (this is what happens with beer bottles etc). You can't do this with plastic. So lots of it gets thrown away. When you throw away, say, paper it degenerates into mush over time and disappears. Plastic doesn't do this so it means more and more space has to be given over to be used as dumps.

Because plastic isn't recycled (like glass can be) we need to make a lot of it: that requires the use of a lot of electricity so this is bad for the environment too.

Also it is made from petrol byproducts and obviously the process of extracting petrol from the earth is particularly environmentally unfriendly.

How safe is the plastic bottle?

it is only not safe when it is left in heat or the sun. Plastic botles also are bad for the environment because oil is used to make the plastic and some people throw their bottles anywhere. it wouldn't be so bad for the environment if everyone carried one around instead of buying one every time they wanted water.
