1. Consistency is key.

2. Logical consequences for their actions.

3. Boundaries - set them and stick to them every time (again, consistency)

4. Follow through - this includes not making unrealistic "threats" or threats you cannot, or are unwilling follow through on (ie. Saying "I'm going to ground you forever." - you may need to ground your child, but "forever" is not a realistic or tangible time frame for your child)

If you Google "Love and Logic Parenting", you can see more information on the items above, as well as some additional, great information on this parenting style.

help the child understand why what they did is wrong, and make sure the child knows that you love them.

You can putt them on time out.

Take some thing away from them that they play with.

Don't allow them to play with their friend's.

depends on how old they are:

0-1 - say "no"

2-4- a few small pats on the but, and time out

5-8- ten spankings with hand, paddle, or belt.

9- keep spanking hard until they stop crying, and make them wirte an appology letter.

10-12- grounded for a week, chores.

13-15- no t.v or computer privliges for a week, grounded for 2 weeks, and chores.

16- tell them that if they act like a child, you'll treat them like a child, and ground them for a whole month, and bathroom cleanup for two weeks.

17-make them pay for their own food, and need for a whole two weeks.

18- you threaten that they are old enough to move out now they they are an adult.

Does the Bible say parents should support children not children their parents?

The Bible teaches the Golden Rule. Do unto others as you would have done unto you. Parents should support their children and when it becomes necessary, children should support their parents. In the Bible, the focus of the parent/child relationship was on love, honor, and respect as well as discipline and instruction (Eph. 6:1-4).

Does homeschooling teach discipline?

Because homeschooling is between the parents and the children, discipline is enforced by the parents. It is wrong to ask whether homeschooling teaches discipline, because that depends on the parents. Some parents prefer to have regimented school days, others prefer a more relaxed style of teaching and learning.

Should parents be allowed to smack their children?

That is a matter of opinion, some people think it hurts children's self-esteem, others think it is a form of discipline. I think parents should be allowed to smack their children, enough to hurt and teach them what they are doing is wrong, but not so much as to take belts and spoons and smack their children so much that they bleed.
