telling your partner you want an open relationship is hard, ive been through that just last xmas. the best thing to do is really alalize weither its an open realaiotnship that you want or just to be with them or without them. finding the right time to tell them is also a good idea, my suggestion is to bring them to a quite place where u can really talk to them... explain that u really do love and care about them....but you feel a need to explore more options....to find out what it is that you like and dont like about people, maybe to gain more experience under your belt. Whatever your reason is just tell them plain and simple. if they do really care about you the way they may say they do, they with be understanding and will stick by your every decision weither it be a good one or a bad one hope that helps you out
