It is not height but weight that determines when you can sit in the front seat.
In New Jersey, children under 8 years old or under 57 inches tall must ride in a federally approved child safety seat in the rear of the vehicle. It is recommended that children under 13 years old sit in the back seat.
In Ontario, it is legal for a child to sit in the front seat however the Government of Canada and more specifically, the Ministry of Transportation highly recommend that whenever possible, have a child sit in the back seat as it is the safest place.
