How to eliminate compressor and air bags to convert rear air suspension bags on Lincoln Navigator 2002 to shocks.?

Talked to a mechanic when purchasing the vehicle - he said that you have to turn off the air bags in the glove compartment when changing tires to prevent this from happening. Hope this helps.
