Assuming this is the automatic transmission model no tools are needed.
1. Remove the center dashboard storage module by pulling the front edges toward the rear of the car. It'll just pop out then you can set the unit on the passenger side floor without disconnecting any wiring.
2. Remove the gearshift knob (just unscrew it)
3. Lift the center console top from front to rear. It's held in place by plastic tabs. Just lift the front edge then work your way to the back. Once free the entire piece can be lifted straight up for removal.
For the stick shift model I'm guessing the procedure is going to be about the same.
remove access plate on floor around shifter, 4 bolts hold the shifter onto the trans.
Assuming you're in the U.S. (other countries may have different attachment schemes) face the plate. Notice there are two bolts or screws at the top holding the plate to the car. Unscrew the bolts. Remove the plate. Reverse procedure to attach new plate. Done. Cheers
to remove the dash trim around the stero unit, find the screws under the ac/heater controls that are on the trim, to remove the rest of the trim you need to remove the plate around the shifter too, so take the screws out of the shifter's plate. remove the rest of the screws around the trims and you should be able to pull the trim out of place.
Start with the trim around the radio and work your way down. Each piece overlaps the last one. There are screws on each side that may or may not have trim plugs over them. There are two screws holding the shifter knob on.
The skid plate does not have to be removed in order to access and change the filter.
Remove the access plate on the floor to expose the trans. disconnect the transfer case shifter as 2 of it's bolts are shared with the shifter on the trans. The bracket is held on to the 2 left hand shifter bolts and will have nuts on the top to remove, it is not possible to just move it out of the way without removing the other 2 bracket bolts further down on the trans. Then remove the 4 retaining bolts on the top of the shifter and pull it out.
Remove the rear seat bottom. There is a plate with roughly 6 screws. Remove this plate and there will be another plate on top of the fuel tank. Unplug the wire connector and remove the screws and lift out the plate with the fuel pump attached. Remove the fuel pump from the plate.
You have to remove the skid plate, then you can change the oil and filter
will a gear shifter fork plate on 89 ford f150 work on 96 ford f150
near the 4 corners of the skid plate are 12mm bolts,(one at each corner) remove the bolts and unhook a hook arm (by slightly lifting up on bottom of skid plate) from the center bottom of skid plate and lower skid plate to the ground. skid plate removed. <these directions were done by me to remove the skid plate from my 1994 4runner.>
thers one on the bottom of the oil tank, you have to remove the skid plate to get to it, and the outher one is on the bottom of the krank case by the shifter
Yes the transmission will fit. But when converting over you will need a clutch pedal, brake pedal, clutch disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, clutch fluid reservoir as well as the lines to route the fluid. You will also need the shifter cables as well as the shifter itself. Its not an easy task.
