After World War I, the leaders of the great nations in Europe created the League of Nations to discuss problems in a diplomatic format. They did, however make some mistakes. They failed to invite Germany or the USSR & the US declined to enter. Because of these absences, World War II couldn't be prevented. In 1948, they tried again making the UN and immediatly went to work trying to bring peace to the Middle East. Today the UN is still in the Holy Land as well as many other high-conflict areas. It does at times fail to do its job, but its the best thing we have to an international diplomatic organization.
