Poland was not part of the Titanic's route. It sailed the Atlantic only. The only way to reach Poland would be through the Baltic, which is way off course for the Titanic. If the family was in the UK in 1912 they may have had tickets, a lot of immigrants had tickets. However, if your great grandfather is younger than 104, he is teasing you. The Titanic went down 100 years ago.

Poland had pretty well been destroyed by the war. The infrastructure (buildings, utilities, transportation centers) had all been severely damaged. Canada, like the US, had not suffered damage and was in good shape. This meant that Poland had to rebuild, Canada did not. Canada had a major economic advantage over most European nations.

No they were at war. Poland is allies with Canada which Germany invaded Poland in 1939.
