I am swapping my 5 speed 00' Chevy 4.8L for a 00' 5.3L and was wondering about the flywheel and any other tips I should be clued in on since 5.3L didn't come out of the factory with nothing but autos?

I may be wrong but I believe in addition to the automatic transmissions that that particular vehicle came with were a 4 speed manual, and 5 speed. Getrag perhaps? Might not hurt to check out whether you are set up with flexplate or flywheel.

If you don't use a flywheel, the engine will not turn the transmission, therefore the car will not move and the engine will just sit and idle and probably roll away because there is nothing to lock the transmission with.
