If a chirping bird noise from a Peugeot 206 1.4 petrol is worse when the engine is cold and it squeals when cold or changing gears what could it be?

This job is easily fixed. I recently bout a 206 XS and the bird noise is quite prominent.
My mate works in a BMW garage and basically he rubbed this cream somewhere in the engine bay on the left hand side. And bobs your uncle it went.
It's as easy as that. Dont let someone scam you into thinking its something else.
Hi just to Clarify, The sqeual/chirp is your Alternator belt slipping, I bet it gets even worse when it's raining or damp? A quick fix is to put a bit of soap (not the liquid stuff) or chalk (better than soap) or surf board wax (In my opinion the best of the three). This will get rid of the squeal but to fix the problem (i.e. stop the slipping) you'll need the belt retensioned or worst case secnario a new belt. None of wich is major work and if you want to try doing it yourself it's not difficult at all, a total of three nuts to be loosened, max. The belt is on the left hand side of the engine. Black thing, runs on two pulleys.
