There are many reasons a guinea pig won't eat. If the piggy hasn't been eating for 8-12 hours, you need to take it to a vet, pronto. Not eating can be a sign of a serious illness, and can irreversibly damage the liver, which is fatal.

Has anything been changed recently? A new addition to the cage, or a new food? If there is a new toy, remove it, and see if that helps. New food? Give the pig some of its favorite fresh veggies. If the guinea pig is still not eating, there is a serious problem.

See a veterinarian that specializes in exotics/small animals, STAT.

This could mean that your guinea pig has overgrown back teeth which may be preventing it from eating- if this is the case take it to your vet and get it's teeth clipped- it may also mean that your guinea pig is feeling poorly.

It may mean your Guinea is unhealthy. Check to make sure your Guinea Pig is acting normal, and usual. Over-think what you where feeding it, and make sure it is okay to feed the food to your Guinea. Also, it's back teeth may have grown in- so if in this case, you should take it to a vet.

It also might be that your Guinea Pig is not happy, possibly with no room-mate. More Guinea Pigs mean more happiness.

Guinea Pigs can get bored with certain types of food, if you keep feeding it too much of it. For example, a Guinea Pig could lose interest in strawberries for quite a while, if you fed it to her/him everyday, for a month or so. Try to give your Guinea a variety of different things, each day. Also make sure you have a water bottle, or a heavy, big glass fresh bowl of water, because it will probably help a little.

my guinea-pigs have done this sometimes and it can just be because they aren't very hungry, never force ur pig to eat!!! check ur guinea-pigs teeth (to do this calm ur pig first then just lift his top lip up) if u can't see 2 front teeth this is y its not eating, it can't!!!!! don't worry its quite normal for their teeth to fall out if they get too long, they grow back though. my guinea-pig had this problem. get a baby spoon and feed it mushed up vegetable so it can swallow it without having to chew. if u have any more problems wiv ur guinea-pig contact me. maybe your guinea pig is shy and when you are not looking it eats and drinks. If you don't think it is shy, and the food bowl and the sipper is always full, then you should go see the vet.
