If i gave my bank information to a collection company can i tell them not to take any money out since all I have is social security?

Not suppose to be able to but some states and/or agreements allow them to if your late on a payment check the wording of the orignial agreement and your states local laws
You should never give any financial info or info of any kind to a collection agency. They have no legal rights what so ever. Each state has a statue of limitations on dept collection once a dept has been written off. In some states it's as little as one year in some 10. Only the original creditor can garnish wages and take legal action against you and they do have that right although very few use it. Dept collectors by dept from companies after they have written it off. There purpose is to get as much as they can so they will say anything. Next time one calls tell them "the statue of limitations has expired and not to call you again". NOTE: If the collector is the original dept holder, they can use any legal means at there disposal.
