The same thing happened to me in my 1984 Mercury (I know, not the same), But it turned out to be the voltage regulator. Some older alternaters dont have internal voltage regulators.
The 51R if you have the 4 cylinder engine. The 35 or the 26R if you have the V-6 engine.
Alternator
The DX, HX, LX, & VP have a 1.7 liter 4 cylinder 115 h.p engine. The EX has a 1.7 liter 4 cylinder 127 h.p. engine. The Si has a 2 liter 4 cylinder 160 h.p. engine. The Hybrid has a 1.3 liter 4 cylinder 85 h.p. engine + a 144 volt battery pack.
follow the red or positive cable from the battery It is behind the engine mount on the front of the engine on the six cylinder.
4 cylinder - try the front lower section of the engine behind radiator 6 cylinder lower rear section of engine Try to follow + battery cable
The clutch bleed valve on a 2.2 liter Chevy Ecotec engine is located on the slave cylinder. To find the slave cylinder remove the battery, as it is mounted underneath the battery tray.
One the 6 cylinder engine, it is between the battery and the engine, if you follow the upper radiator hoce to the plastic housing, it is inside.
On the negative post of the battery. Common computer grounds are on the thermostat housing, back of the cylinder head, sometimes on the intake, then main conductors are body to frame, body to battery, body to engine, frame to engine and frame to battery.
The 2005 Hyundai Accent came equipped with the 1.6L 4-cylinder engine. The battery group size (BCI) for this application is 121R.
Four cylinder it is on the rear of the engine. Six cylinder it is on the front of the engine.Four cylinder it is on the rear of the engine. Six cylinder it is on the front of the engine.
3rd firing order cylinder is at the back of engine by fire wall battery side
Cylinder #8 is the rearmost cylinder on the engine block. Face the engine, and #8 will be closest to the firewall.
