No. You need a product made specifically for killing the lice, and you need to wash ALL bed linens, hats, scarves, etc., in very hot water to prevent reinfestation. Run your pillows (and things that can't be washed) through the dryer on high heat for at least 45 minutes to kill the lice. For items that can't be washed or run through a hot dryer, hang them on a clothes line in the hot sun for several hours.
It might kill some of the adult lice, but it is the eggs they lay that it wont kill. It take using that shampoo and then one of those really fine lice egg combs to get rid of them. Also everything needs to be washed/dried and and any plushy toys or pillows need to be qaurintined in a plastic bag for two weeks. That is what I read recently in the newspaper anyway. Good luck. I agree it might kill a few bugs but coloring your hair WILL NOT KILL LICE!
Yes it does, the ammonia in the hair die kills lice, you still would have to go threw your hair with a lice comb thing to get all the dead lice/ eggs out though. my daughter has done that about 8 times now.
Probably not, but the dye might drown some of them. The only way to get rid of them is to use a special pesticide shampoo from the pharmacy.

Yes, head lice are living creatures which get into your hair through physical contact - they 'land' or 'crawl' onto your hair. That it how you get head lice. Therefore, you can still get head lice when you are ill because the illness makes no difference to your hair.
Though there is scientific evidence to support that heat will kill head lice, the risk of possibly scalding the scalp with the flat iron is a risk. Lice lay their eggs very close to the scalp. Nits usually hatch by the time the hair has grown 1/4 inch. Here's a link to Dr. Richard Pollack's head lice site at Harvard with an answer to this question: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/headlice.html#HeatThis chart shows all current FDA approved head lice medications: http://www.myheadlicetreatment.com/head-lice-treatment-options/product-comparison/
hair lice are creatures that get in your hair by your head being too near to another person who's head does have head lice. Warning: No matter how old or young, however long or short your hair is you can still catch head lice. The lice sucks you blood from you head and that makes it itch. The best thing to do is to wash you hair daily and with shampoo and conditioner. There is some special lice shampoo too. I had head lice and its a pain in the butt.

Clorox is a bleach and will cause your scalp to burn possibly.
Don't do it. It will make you feel ill (I speak from experience).
The usual technique for getting rid of head lice is to shave off all the hair, so the lice are not hidden by the hair, and then the lice can be individually removed with tweezers. For those who are unwilling to lose their hair, it is also possible to get special shampoo that kills lice.
The mature, grown, lice will leave eggs or nits in the hair. those eggs will hatch and turn into mature, grown, lice. This process with keep repeating until you get all lice and lice eggs out of the hair!
