What are the options in US for study/practice for someone who has done BDS in India and is practicing as a dentist in her own clinic in India? The visa type would be H4.
As I vaguely understand, US does not accept Indian medical degrees and person has to get a degree again in US -- is that a bachelors or a masters degree ?? Also how difficult is it to get into dental school? Are there any financial aid - TA/RA type stuff there too? Does it involve .. like other medical schools here.. 48 hr type rotations as well??
Also, are there any other related fields that someone with BDS can leverage.. something like clinical research or some other degree -- maybe one cannot practice as a dentist -- but in same field where previous knowledge can be leveraged.
hi i have a quick qus. i m doing 4th year of bds in India ..and i want to study further in u.s exactly in New York ..how cn i go for dis can u help me for this..
In the US a BDS degree from India means that you can get direct admission to 3rd year of DDS after clearing the National Dental Boards in high percentiles. So a 4 year BDS degree from either India or Pakistan does not make you a dentist in either US or Canada untill you'r done with the DDS or DDM.
The 5-year undergraduate BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) course is the only professional dental programme recognised in India. The BDS admission in India prepares students to become doctors. It is a necessary course for students who want to work in public or private hospitals as dentists. The main focus of BDS is to introduce and educate students about the dental sciences and practises. The five-year programme consists of four years of classroom instruction and one year of required rotational internship.
