Of course it is legal to date even if your parents don't approve but it would probably make life at home difficult. Many other people will disapprove of the age difference too. If you want to do "physical" stuff then it depends on the age of consent where you live. In the UK it is 16. Be careful with older men - you can't always trust them.

Dear Whoever, First of all, there is no way to tell if a guy likes you unless you ask him. I know, I hate it too, but it is the truth. Now if it does happen for you and want your parents to approve of him, take a lesson from their parents and have him formally introduce himself to them. He should be on his best behaviour and maybe even have him bring flowers. Pretty much like how they acted in the 1920's. You had to ask permission to date a father's daughter back then and maybe that might put him in their good books :D hope that helped!
