Yes, I do it all the time! I use my dishwasher to clean the dishes and large pots and pans get washed in the sink at the same time. All the crud from the pots and pans then gets sent down the drain through my In-Sink-Erator disposer.
Yes. Dishwasher Tablets do dissolve in water, but they take a bit of time.

According to the link and my experience, the seals could dry out if you don't use the dishwasher for a really long time.
So it would clean by themselves and save time
Both dishwasher and toilet are sharing the same outlet pipe/drain it is possible when disahwasher is in use it is blocking of the drain somehow so the toilet water has nowhere to go - you need to have a look at the outlet pipe of the toilet and dishwasher the problem lies in a conflict there.
A dishwasher that should bring you some satisfaction would be from EnergyStar. They seems to have great reviews and last a long time while giving great results. It might not be your dishwasher but it could be the soap you use.
There could be a a ground-to-neutral fault somewhere in the appliance, its cord or its plug. For more information click on the Related Question link below. The breaker is not ampere rated high enough for the dishwasher. The dishwasher is miswired. There is a problem in the dishwasher electricals that told the GFCI to save your life.
Yes you can. Just don't put dishes in it at the same time! just pour a puddle of clr and water mixture (mix as per instructions on bottle) onto the bottom of the dishwasher. -Don't use to much or the dishwasher will have bubbles on your floor.- Make sure to scrub problem areas e.g. calcium and rust. then run dishwasher EMPTY on it's "light wash" or "quick rinse" option and turn off the heat dry (you don't need to dry an empty dishwasher!). Do not leave the house until the cycle has finished. When cycle is finished, remove the filter and sprayer arms/tower and rinse in clean water. repeat if necessary. Enjoy your now clean dishwasher.
I am betting on a Ge or Kenmore unit built by GE. It has a real motor.
Not really. It will come clean in the dishwasher, but over time, the patterns will wear off and you will damage the dishes themselves. Better to hand wash :) I have, however, dried my Bonnie Blue-patterned Fire King in the dishwasher and that doesn't hurt them one bit.
The additional cleaning cycles and time, allow the dishwasher to more thoroughly clean your dishes.
Yes, it did because you save your time to do other things.
