Yes, my dear friend not only did he write the Deceleration, he bought the Louisiana Purchase from France.
žThomas Jefferson was a true master of the Pen. Not only did he record and write legal documents, and normal essays of the common man in Great Brittan and in colonial America.
žThomas Jefferson was also the 3rd President of the United States of America. He was also the Author of the Declaration of Independence.
žThomas Jefferson is also famous because he bought around ¾ of the whole country. He may never admit it but Jefferson owes a lot of his fame and current status in history today to John Adams because of his Independence Committee.
žJefferson was looked upon as a powerful advocate of Liberty, but was not a very active leader in congress. He spoke every now and then, but was not like some New Englanders who just wanted to get out of the danger and back to peace and harmony in the United States at the time.
žJefferson Once Said "I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man."
žThis a lot of people found this to mean that you would be hostile towards a government or group of people governed in such a manner that it seems to be a lot like a dictatorship.
ž Another one of his nicknames was the "silent member of congress" although his wisdom and ideas were great, he was more of a listener rather than a loud speaker that used his voice to try and turn the tables at the given moment in the congress assemble.

Thomas Jefferson was a good president. Even though he created the Embargo Act, an act that outlawed trade with all European nations during the Napoleonic Wars, which was his biggest failure as president, he was still a great president. First, Jefferson bought the area from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains from the Native Americans for $5 million (3 cents an acre). That area was known as the Louisiana Purchase. Jefferson was also the first Democratic-Republican president.
Jefferson was a bad president!! Just think.. he halted the expansion of the Navy which could have helped the country with things such as Impressment (the drafting of American sailors into the British Navy), it could have helped with the Chesapeake Incident, could have stopped Britain from stealing America's ships, and in general had he kept the Navy it would have boosted the country's defense. What about the Embargo? The embargo placed a ban on exporting goods to other countries. This ended up taking a huge toll on American merchants, and many went bankrupt. The Embargo hurt the U.S. rather than helped it. And the European countries that Jefferson was trying to hurt simply went to other countries for the goods they needed. Jefferson couldn't even follow his own beliefs/principles. He believed the Constitution should be interpreted as strictly as possible. Well no where in the Constitution does it say that the national government has the authority to purchase land. So if Jefferson believed in interpreting the Constitution so strictly then why did he make the Louisiana Purchase? Clearly Jefferson was not a good president and should be regarded as such!! Hope this helped (:
Thomas Jefferson was a brilliant intellectual and free thinker.
He was not caught up in the tom-foolery of religion, and understood the importance of maintaining separation of church and state.
He understood the principles of "checks and balances" in regulating branches of the government.
He knew the importance of freedom of religion as well as freedom from it.
Yes. He was very smart. And he had bunches of books so he learned at least one thing every day! He helped write the declaration of independence. And he was very nice. Please write a message on my message board!
