AnswerYes and No.

A Bachelor's Degree is considered to be a HIGHER level of education than an Associate's Degree. That being said, whether or not a Bachelor's Degree is BETTER than an Associate's Degree depends upon what field of study one undertakes or which profession one plans to enter upon attainment of a degree.

Some excellent professions can be pursued after attainment of an Associate's Degree. Examples include Licensed Practical Nurse, Nurse Aide, cosmetologist, production machine operator, electrician, landscaper, barber, millwright, river boat deck hand et al.

Although these are not the usual "Doctor, lawyer, Indian chief...." professions associated with a college degree, they offer rewards, both monetary and asthetic, for those who pursue them. While it is true that most of these professions can be pursued with no degree, many Junior/Community Colleges offer viable training and job placement assistance and "incubation" or start-up business sites.

An Associate's Degree usually takes two (2) years to earn AND many of the credits earned may be transferred toward earning a Bachelor's Degree. A Bachelor's Degree usually takes four (4) years to earn.

Yes. Generally, an associates is equivalent to two (2) years college course work while bachelors is equivalent to four (4) years college work. Many employers now look for potential employees with at least a bachelors in that field. You won't see many with associates.

They are both the same thing. In order to get a bachelor's degree you must go to school for 4 years. An associate's degree is only a 2 year degree and you receive an associate degree before you receive your bachelors degree. The only degree's that can out do a bachelors degree is a master's degree and a PHD.

Yes it is. The associates degree is typically a two year program of study; the bachelors is a four year program of study. Still, higher does not always mean better in terms of career. It is the one that will satisfy your personal needs, wants, and desires in terms of your overall career goals and objectives.

It is difficult to apply the term "better" to either answer. The best degree one can attain is the one that will allow you to apply (note I didn't say "perform") for the career that you desire. This assumes, of course, that you approach education only as the means to an end (a job) that the end itself. Short answer: An Associate's Degree will take (generally) 2 years, while a Bachelor's Degree will take (again, generally) 4 years. For example, having an Associate's Degree in Computer Science with no experience in the field will give you very little job opportunities, though having ten years of experience and an A.S. is more valuable than no experience and a B.S., assuming you are both applying for a "line of business" development job.

It depends on your overall career goals and objectives. There are occupations that require an associate degree, while others may require a bachelor's degree or higher. Once you decide on a specific career, you can then determine which degree will lead you to entry level requirements particular to that field. That being said, once in the field, the higher the degree, the more doors of opportunity will be opened to you.

How many credits can i use I have an associate degree how many different credits will I need for a second associate's degreeI will use all of my core classes and more from liberal arts degree?

The amount of credits that can be applied from one associates to another second associates would be strictly dependent on what area that second associates is in. For example, a Liberal Arts degree would do better with a second Associates of Arts in International Studies rather than in Engineering. Nonetheless, unless the second associates is in a specific practical field - Allied Health for example - why would you want a second associates degree. You would be much better off using your already accumulated credits toward a Bachelors Degree. I would recommend moving vertically and not horizontally. Viper1

Are masters degrees better than Ph.Ds?

The masters degree is advance study after completion of the bachelors degree. The PhD is the highest level of academic achievement, that typically follows a masters - although there are a few that can be pursued directly after completion of the bachelors. Still, it is not so much that one is better than the other. The better degree is the one that leads you to your personal career goals and objectives.

The common degree types are listed below from lowest to highest.• Associate's Degree - This is a two-year degree that is generally given out by junior colleges, community colleges, and business colleges.• Bachelor's Degree - This is the standard four-year degree that most people think of when they think of a college degree.• Master's Degree - This degree is the next step above the Bachelor's Degree. It allows a person to gain a greater degree of qualification for more highly demanding, and highly paying, jobs.• Doctorate - This is the highest degree in the college degree hierarchy. Is it better to hold multiple Bachelor's degrees or get a Master's degree?

Yes. The simple answer is YES. As a general rule, it's better to get a Master's degree than just a Bachelor's degree. Of course, it's usually even better to get a Doctorate than just Master's & Bachelor's degrees. And just think, you get to stay in college longer too. Three, maybe four more years of halcyon days midst Elysian Fields, sharing ambrosia, wine, song and love on the campus of dear old Alma Mater and ...well, you get the point. Again, the simple answer is YES. As a general rule. In a surprising and somber commentary on the tragedy of poor souls who try their turn at bat in life using only a Bachelor's Degree in social work as a recommendation or credential, the original answerer of this question notes below: A bachelors in social work is pretty much useless except as a general education. If you intend to do any real social work you will need the masters degree. Answer: All of the above are great observations. If you are interested in non-clinical areas like organizing or administration, a Master's is less critical. In most states, you need a Master's to qualify for an independent, or "clinical" license. I would LOVE to have a PhD, but the truth is that (at least in the New England area) a PhD in Social Work doesn't increase one's imbursement rate from 3rd party payers by a single cent. So, unless you want to enter academia, a PhD would be quite an investment of resources with not much of a practical return.
