No - it's not rare at all. They get depressed, withdrawn, and consider leaving just like a woman.

You can't be HURTFUL and not abuse. Abuse can be verbal, emotional & mental. Talk to someone about it. Perhaps a school counselor or priest.

It can be. It can be part of a greater pattern of ongoing emotional abuse. At the least, you should be able to sue for damages such as lost earning potential and reimbursement for mental health care.

I would believe that this answer is based off of a personal opinion. However, I would say that the second worst form of child abuse besides physical would be mental. Mental can cover anywhere to physical, verbal and emotional abuse.

Verbal and mental abuse are kind of a cause and affect. When somebody verbally abuses you so badly it eventually, over time, turns into a mental abuse which means you start believing what the abuser says, and less of what you feel and think.

Not on a general basis, but if one partner wants to get a divorce from the other they can use 'emotional abuse' as a way to get that divorce. If one is emotionally abused, it is just as bad as being physically abused (you just can't see the scars) and the victim should leave their abuser.
