No, Strattera is non addictive thus does not have to be prescribed monthly by a physician. Stimulants however like Adderall need to be prescribed monthly by hand or by fax to the drug store where you buy your meds from.

Strattera was created so that people who become addicted easily can have a safer, non addictive alternative.

No it is not possible to become addicted to Strattera I currently take Strattera and have had no ill effects or chemical dependance from it

Strattera was created so people would have an alternative to stimulants although many people take it in addition to smaller doses of stimulant medications

Although not addictive in the normal sense of the word, I have been on straterra for four years and have had trouble when I tried to stop taking it. In my case it caused me to feel very socially anxious when I had not been previously and also caused increased heart rate and a strange feeling in my head. This is not the same as coming off a stimulant such as adderall, but it may still make you feel bad and is worth noting. I have tried weening off the drug and it is more effective and causes less negative symptoms.

im not saying it is or it isn't but all i know is that 2 years ago i was told that strattera would help me but since then i became worse than i have ever been i counldnt stop wanting to take strattera when i knew i did not need it as well as it made me very withdrawn from everyone else and as soon as i stopped taking it i got better now two months later im perfectly fine in fact better then i ever was and you no what everyone around me will tell you and my doctors that the strattera was doing something bad to me

I would say this medication could be addictive if someone is over medicated. Or it is taken improperly. == == Actually, Strattera is non-stimulant, non-addictive drug, which is why it is not a controlled substance. Clinical studies show: In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, abuse-potential study in adults comparing effects of STRATTERA and placebo, STRATTERA was not associated with a pattern of response that suggested stimulant or euphoriant properties.

Clinical study data in over 2000 children, adolescents, and adults with ADHD and over 1200 adults with depression showed only isolated incidents of drug diversion or inappropriate self-administration associated with STRATTERA. There was no evidence of symptom rebound or adverse reactions suggesting a drug-discontinuation or withdrawal syndrome. == == == ==

I would say that because it is not a controlled substance the likelihood for abuse or dependence is fairly unlikely( this really depends on the intended purpose of taking this drug)However I did not take this particular medication long enough to really tell if it was addictive or not. For me, I took it for all of 6 weeks and stopped all of the sudden when the side effects of heart burn and nausea were too harsh. I did not suffer from any withdrawal symptoms that I know of, I was just happy to be away from the pain of heartburn. :) hope this helps. Strattera is not a stimulant and therefore there is no abuse and addiction potential for it. This is why it is not a controlled drug. It is the only non-stimulant ADHD medication currently on the market.

Adderall, another ADHD/ADD medication, is often abused to get high rather than used for its indicated purpose. However I would not think it possible to get the same effect from Strattera since it is a non-stimulant drug. The ADHD drugs that are abused are all stimulants, and thus the reason they can be used to get high. With Strattera not having the stimulant properties that the other drugs containing amphetamines or methylphenidates do, it most likely has no effect in producing a high. Someone taking this drug for "off label" purposes may recognize it is an ADHD drug and know that other ADHD drugs such as Ritalin and Adderall are often used to get high, but does not know Strattera is a non-stimulant and would not affect them the same way. Yep. Especially when it's not prescribed/when it's taken recreationally. You can reach lows and legitimately need Adderall to get back up to "normal" level, just like with most addictions. It's not uncommon at all for someone to snort the little balls in the 30 mg to get their fix.

Does Strattera contain morphine?

No, it does not contain any opiates. To put it bluntly, Strattera has no real value as a recreational drug, nor is it terribly effective for it's intended purpose. Most ADD/ADHD treatments, such as Adderall, contain dopamine reuptake inhibitors which can produce a speedy high. However, Strattera does not contain DRIs, as it is an alternative to stimulant based treatment forms.
