No city in the world is 100% safe as there is always some crime and dangers like being involved in an accident, but Ireland is a safe country and the city of Dublin is safer than most cities in the world. Over a million people live in Dublin, so it is a safe city to move to. Because of the troubles in Northern Ireland, which are now over, people had a misconception that there was trouble all over Ireland, which was not true. Even in Northern Ireland during the troubles, it was not really a dangerous place to live.

Yes, Ireland is a very safe country to visit but with the usual warnings you'd have to give to a visitor to any country. There are city areas to avoid that can be checked out by asking locals. You'll find the vast majority of Irish people will do a lot to help visitors and we pride ourselves on our reputation for friendliness.

Crime in Ireland is down since the recession started. Murders tend to be amongst criminals or in domestic situations with relatively few killings during robberies.

There is a fairly serious weekend drinking culture and fights can break out in busy pub and club areas but if you stay aware you'll have few problems. Use the same basic common sense you would use travelling anywhere else and remember that every country in the world have thugs and thieves but also remember that Ireland is a very safe destination for visitors.

Yes - Ireland is usually a very safe place to visit but you should take all of the precautions you normally do when visiting any of its bigger cities - esp Dublin, Cork, Limerick etc.
