You said, "moonshade," right? There are a couple of problems here. I thought you might be referring to a plant, but there is no such plant ("Moonshadow" is closest, but it's not poisonous.) So I have to assume that by "moonshade" you mean the shade of the moon. That's a lunar eclipse. This occurs when the moon is between the Earth and the Sun. The moon may take a beating in this situation, but it shields the Earth.
