In a small (very small) way. IQ tests are primarily about information processing. The faster one does (efficiency), and the better one's correct::incorrect score ratio (comprehensiveness), the higher the score. HOWEVER, some children with high IQs will do terrible in a traditional school (i.e. state-run public K-12). The reason for this is most commonly boredom, as people tend not to pay attention to boring topics/situations. With a high IQ, certain subjects may seem very simple to a student, thus making them quite annoying to spend excessive amounts of sustained mental effort on. On the contrasting point, children with low IQs are not necessarily D/F students. The reason a child with a low IQ will do bad in school is usually due to a difficulty in understanding topics, and therefore they MAY need additional, personal help from a teacher/tutor. But, as stated, a low IQ DOES NOT mean the child will preform below average in school. The most commonly seen reason for a low IQ is either a learning disability (dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADD/ADHD, etc.) or the child may just dislike tests(quite common in very young children). Keep in mind that, with these conditions, the child's intelligence in not portrayed as low. IQ tests are only a measure of speed and comprehension, which do NOT proclaim how smart a child is. Conclusion: An IQ test is NOT able to predict whether a child will do well or not in school. Only time and experience can tell.
