Balooney's first assertion is "Life cannot possibly exist in any solar system other than our own." I would say that is illogical. He has no proof, and "cannot possibly" is a very extreme statement. If we exist, certainly other people/beings could exist. In truth, given the number of stars out there, it's likely that there is some form of life somewhere. And it is unlikely that we are unique in the universe, whether as life or as the way that the planets around the sun formed.
Balooney's premise is basically "I believe it, so it must be true." That isn't logic. That's the very definition of bias.
A hypothesis is your guess when you are trying to answer a question. It is valuable because it shows your opinion. It is basically your opening sentence for your explanation. Ex. I think my hair is brown. (then you explain how and why)
An opening sentence
