Most Handfasts will include one or more of the following: Casting of a circle Use of a pagan altar Use of Pagan symbols Invocation and blessing of the goddess and god Vows Out door ceremony The presence of a high priestess or priest Ritual fire Concecration of rings Natural elements including flowers and grains. Before the modern churches took over these duties, joinings were overseen by the whole community and therefore were set in law by their witnessing what happened between the couple making the promise.
