====== I would have to say vinyl siding. It is vertually maintance free and it is less apt to get dinged up and also resist outside temperature and weathering than metal siding. Good luck.

Vinyl windows last longer and sound better when being raised or lowered.
Overall there is little advantage between the two. I would go with the product that looks best for your house. If you use a high quality (40 mill or higher) vinyl siding either will look nice if installed properly. Dutch lap fits tighter at the overlaps due to the extra bend. Often times, traditional lap siding, if "stretched", will cup at the seams, Dutch lap in general is not a prone to this problem as bad. Don't focus this minor problem, just make sure you get a good product and hire a reputable installer and you house will look like new again.
Depends on what you are using if for.
It depends on what you want to use it for. On the Moh's scale, steel is somewhere between 4 and 4.5, whereas iron is between 6 and 7. In swords, both iron and steel kinds have appeared, but steel is slightly better than iron due to its strength-to-weight ratio and its flexibility. Keep in mind, steel--unlike iron--is made of different metals to improve its strength. For piping, steel would be better (but not the first choice among other materials to use). Steel is also more resistant to rust, than iron, and the weldability of steel is better than iron.
Vinyl siding is actually good for all climates. I used to install vinyl siding for a living, and believe it or not, it can help to insulate your house and also prevent water damage.

Depending on your preference, either type of siding works well. Aluminum siding is less costly, but will dent easily and needs painted every few years. Vinyl siding may cost more and can crack in extreme temperatures, but it is extremely low maintenance compared to aluminum siding.
One thing you should know is that at this point there is not one paint company that guarantees their paint staying on vinyl siding. Generally if the vinyl siding is looking dingy you can get a power washer and clean them off to look basically new again.
