No - you can retrain them if you have lost the postitions. GM specifies a TPS training tool, that is simply a strong magnet. Buy a strong magnet from radio shack or harbor frieght etc. Get the tire-training up on the DIC (RTM) Hold the magnet next to one of the sensors and proceed with the instructions on the DIC - using the magent when instructed to train LF etc.
