My student loan was deferred but I got a letter saying it will be defaulted. why?

Well, you can only defer a student loan while attendant an accredited school, when you graduate or stop attending you typically will receive a notice reminding you that you must start making payments if not back in school within 60 days. If you do not make payments then after 2-3 months you would be considered defaulted.
If that is not the case, contact the lender and work it out, could have been a mailing error or other computer error.
