Hi:
Builders Codes vary widely from one locale to another and so does there enforcement.
In my area, the code clearly states that the largest object of the system must be easily accessable and removable for replacement or repairs. This code is barely enforced if at all. Depends on your mojo with the inspector I guess.
In all seriousness, I have often wished that manufactures were required to provide you with simple and easy access to the inside faces of their blower coils for periodic inspection and cleaning. Truth is,,, Most don't!!!
If you are thinking all this should be law and enforced then I'm in agreement with you. You absolutely would not believe some of the places and their accesability that I have seen.
One more thing: their should plenty of good work lighting and a easily accesable convienance outlet in close proximity of such equipment and also good solid flooring to stand on of adequate size.
