There can be any of various infections, most commonly it is caused by a fungus called tinea cruris, or more commonly called jock itch. Some strains of the fungus is highly resistant to most medications. Many men can get this and it's usually because men will perspire more in this area. If you aren't wearing cotton underwear start! Synthetic underwear (too tight underwear) will cause sweating and cause all sorts of problems. There is relief! Go to your pharmacy and ask for Epsom Salts. This is not like regular salt and WILL NOT sting. Take 2 cups of Epson Salts and pour boiling water in to dissolve Epsom Salt Crystals. Then pour this into a TEPID BATH (body temp.) Lay back and relax for approx. 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. Be sure to dry the area between your butt cheeks VERY WELL. Do this 3 times a week for 2 weeks and you should feel relief from the very first soak in Epsom Salts. This has been used for many things such as healing wounds to getting steel slivers out of fingers to infections from a sore toe or finger. Then use Polysporim cream (can also be found at the drug store) and apply between the butt cheeks. This will help heal and take any infection away.
