Should you believe stuff you read or watch online?

No. A lot of times, the things people post online change, or it can't really happen in real life, but anything you post on the internet lasts forever. Don't worry if an embarrasing video of you or a post about you gets online-it will be the subject of gossip for a while, but eventually people will forget about it and you can move on. Later, others won't judge you for something untrue they found about you online.

But you should NEVER post addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, or any other personal information. This could put you in SERIOUS DANGER. Don't worry about your name being online-if you become rich and famous you're going to be all over the Internet anyway. :)

If you find something mean, untrue, or inappropriate about yourself or other people online, or a video that makes you feel uncomfortable, talk to your parents or another responsible adult. If you ARE an adult, talk to your child! This can help them avoid bad sites. You can also consult your husband/wife, siblings, or boss. Remember, a lot of this stuff is untrue and the people who post stuff have no idea what they are talking about. Just to prove this, I searched on Google: the fifth Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, AFTER the SEVENTH one had already come out. A person had posted a video of what the cover would look like, and it looked NOTHING like the real thing! That just goes to show, some people can't ever get the right information and they just make up junk. So about 78% of the Internet is false or pretend. You have NOTHING to worry about! :)
