All naturally occurring forces/energy sources/ material sources of energy are non conventional source of energy. Some of them are as follows
1. Wind energy. The naturally blowing wind is made to turn a wind mill/wind turbine and the energy so obtained is used for useful work.
2. solar energy. The sun light falling on a certain metals expels the electrons and creates an imbalance of the number of electrons. An electric current will flow. Such devices are called photo voltaic cells. Their efficiencies are very low- around 7% and cost is prohibitively high. Scientists are make much effort to produce solar cells cheaply. Presently a ink jet printing technology is being developed wherein on a flexible sheet, photo sensitive material will be deposited using the ink jet printing technology.
3. Sun light can be used to heat materials directly. Normally a box covered with a sheet of glass is used. Once the sunlight passes through the glass, the infrared component becomes polarised and cannot escape through the the glass. Hence maximum heat content of the sun lights will be transferred into the materials kept inside.
4. Tidal wave energy. The sea waves can be made to operate electricity generating machines.
