Well... The plugs are on the driver's side. The 4 wires go up and across the engine between the valve cover and the air inlet resonator, at which point they go into a plastic conduit. The conduit then goes downward, through the alternator bracket, and down the right side of the block. Ending up at t…he two coil packs on the lower right side of the engine.. It is very tough to replace these wires. But sooner or later you got to do it.. I've heard one story of using the old wire to pull the new one in. But I don't see how that would work. I fished mine with a coat hanger. Replacement wires don't have printed numbers on them. So you got to lay them out from longest to shortest............ 4 3 2 1. I wrote on the ends with a Sharpie pen.. Once you get the 4 wires through the alternator bracket and attached to the coils, put the conduit on at the top of the engine and slide it down the wires toward the coils. There is no excess wire, do it wrong and it won't reach. Don't put any stress on the wires either. Make sure you hear and/or feel a click when you put the boot on the plugs and coil terminals.. If you look at all the rubber wires, ( 8 of them ) on the back of the engine behind the air filter. Each one of those wires hook to a spark plug in the heads that is on both sides of the engine. 4 spark plugs per side.

Your local parts house will be able to tell you which plugs and/or plug wires you need for your car. I suggest buying a good set, but there's really no need to break the bank. Firing Order: 1-5-3-6-2-4 Of course the cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4-5-6 from the front of the engine to the rear. Remove the distributor cap & spark plugs, and turn the engine over slightly without starting and observe which way the engine turns and which way the distributor rotor rotates. Now tu…rn the engine over by hand until you get the #1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke. Now look where the rotor is pointing. It will be pointing at the #1 spark plug wire location. Replace all spark plugs. Connect the #1 plug to the location the rotor is pointing to. Now count in the direction the rotor turns to the 5th plug location and connect the 5th spark plug wire there. Sounds like the ignition MODULE is bad. It is mounted underneith the distributor cap and it will be on the right side of the distributor plate. Go buy a new one and when you take the cap off you will no what to look for. There's 2 small screews that hold it in place and the electrical wires just unp…lug. (MORE)
