Sinoatrial node
The primary pacemaker of the mammalian heart is the sino-atrial node. If the SA node fails, the atrioventricular node (AV node) takes over pacemaking.
The SA node (Sinoatrial node) sets the pace for the heart as a whole because no other region of the conduction system or the myocardium has a faster depolarization rate. For this reason, it is the heart's pacemaker.
A pacemaker is nothing but a specialized mass of muscle tissue present in the wall of the heart. It initiates the heart beat.
We can speed up or maintain the fuction of pacemaker by providing good amout of carbon, magnecium ,and ather ions that regulates the electric impulses regulate by the nodes ,that actually initiates tha heart beat
Pacemaker potentials are automatic potentials generated and are exclusively seen in the heart. They arise from the natural "leakiness" of the membrane that pacemaker cells have, resulting in passive movement of both Na+ and Ca2+ across the membrane, rising the membrane potential to about -40mV. This results in a spontaneous depolarization of the muscle that has a rise in the curve that is nowhere near as steep as the action potential of other cells. Upon depolarization, the cell will return back to its resting membrane voltage, and continue the potential again.
A P wave denotes atrial depolarization or when your atriacontracts. It is generated by the Sinoatrial (SA) node which is the primary pacemaker and signifies a Sinus Rhythm.

Rapid depolarization happens after the membrane threshold has been reached and Na+ ions start to flow into the cell. As more Na+ ions flood in the cell becomes more and more positive. This causes the voltage gated Na+ channels to open creating a flood of Na+ ions and thus a rapid phase of depolarization. Shortly after this rapid phase K+ ions are released from the cell causing the cell to become more negative closing the Na+ channels and thus repolarizing the cell.
