I have been in the pool industry for a long time, this is what you NEED to do to refinish your exisiting pool
Step 1 - Clean Pool of debri,
Step 2 - Pressure wash pool, removing all flaked or loose paints, you may need to scrape it off as well.
Step 3 - Clean your pool with a product call ArmorGuard Cleaner, This will etch and seal your pool, while turning the Calcium Hydroxide to a good Calcium Silicate. (a good bonding agent)
Step 4 - If your pool has any back hydration, leaks etc. patch those areas with hydrolic contrete or Armorguard trowel mix.
Step 5 - Prime Swimming Pool with ArmorGuard Primer Sealer
Step 6 - Apply ArmorGuard Color Top Coats (2 Coats Recommended) THis will permantely seal your pool and will NEVER flake, Peel or chalk, It also has microban in its mixture to prevent the growth of Algae or fungi.
