The significance of cream is that as a milk product it contains lactose. If you are at all lactose intolerant, meaning that you do not secrete enough lactase to fully digest lactose, that can cause digestive problems since it results in excess food for intestinal bacteria (or candida as well). The question is, do you have a similar problem when you consume dairy products aside from the cream that you add to coffee? What happens if you just drink a glass of milk?

Many people (including me) avoid dairy products because of lactose intolerance, but there are excellent substitutes. Try a non-dairy creamer in your coffee. Soy milk can be very nice (although different brands differ considerably in quality).
