Look at the headlight on the driver's side. Between the battery and the headlight on the right-most side of the engine compartment, along the top of the frame where the hood rests, you'll see a long, metal, L-SHAPED pin. Pull that pin straight up and it will release the headlight. Lift out the headlight, and twist out the bulb from the back. Same process for the passenger's side, but its easier to explain using the driver's side as the example.
what about the low beam?
Yes - you have many options - they are called "Beam Blades"
Open the hood and remove the two candy cane shaped pins. The headlight assembly will now be able to be removed. Quarter turn the bulbs and they come right out.
Yes
low beam headlight bulb type: 9006
Remove the entire head lamp assembly
How do you know the bulbs are good?, looks can be deceiving. i just had the same problem ... the high beams worked but the low beam was burnt out.. just replace the bulb and it works fine..
How to replace right from headlight bulb on 2000 ford contour 4 cyl...?
Headlights that serve as a high and low beam have two different filiments in them. The low beam filiment is most likely burnt out. Time to replace it.
There is a bolt with a torx bit head on it behind the headlight if i remember right there should be two of them one is for up and down the other is for in and out.
More than likely it'll be a bottom on the floor board that you push with your foot. 3rd-party edit: the high beam switch is on the wiper arm. Pull it towards the driver to activate/de-activate.l
I have a 2000 S 430, and when my dash read "low Beam" I actually had to take it to the dealer to replace because of the new Xenon headlights, the bulb itself ran me $160.00!
