The ignition switch is broken you should have a mechanic check it out because the bottom rod could be broken then you would need to buy the whole steering wheel.
If your vehicle is not wanting to turn off when you turn the key off, it is most likely your ignition switch. The ignition switch is basically not touching the correct spots to communicate with the engine that it needs to shut down.
Because it will stop and then car will braked . Engine will be blow up .
why the compressor keeps running whil the key is out is because it is trying to keep the car at the level ride height
If the starter keeps running when the key is removed, you have two wires touching that should not be. It can also be a bad solenoid. Either one can start a fire.
turn the key from the off position to the on position without starting the car 3 times, finishing with the key in the on position but without the engine running. this enables the check engine light to display any engine fault codes.
Engine keeps cutting out. I turn the key off, then turn it back on in about 30 seconds and engine starts easily. but will continue to stop after only a few miles.

1. Turn the key to "on" so that electrical system is fired up (but engine is not running) 2. Set trip planner to "A" trip. 3. Turn key off (no electrical) 4. Hold down trip planner button, then turn key to "on" so that electrical system is fired up (but engine is not running). 5. "Maint Req" light will blink several times and then go off.

Its a Ford self test. Key On Engine Running. There's also the Key On Engine Off.
It could be the fuel relay is stuck.
