Yes and no, depends on the device. USB is an interface and can do both input and output (I/O).

Hot-swappable means you do not need to power down your computer, hub or laptop to connect or disconnect a Universal Serial Bus device from its port. A USB port is not in itself an I/O device, rather a host to said devices.

You could have a keyboard or microphone connected through USB, which are input devices.


You could also have a printer or speakers hooked up through USB, and those happen to be output devices.

That depends on your definition, but it is a storage device, it stores material on a flash memory, solid state drive.
